Dirtbound multiplayer

Start on dirtbound.fr

Launch the original game from this site's Play button, then choose Multiplayer in the game's home menu. The room browser, account prompts and race settings belong to the original game.

Use the same current version of the game across your group. If one player has left a tab open for a long time, refresh that tab before trying to join a newly created room.

Create a room

1. Open the multiplayer menu and choose the option to create a room.
2. Follow the game's sign-in or player-name prompt if one appears.
3. Choose the room settings shown in the menu, then create the lobby.
4. Share the room code or invite information displayed by the game with your friends.

Check the selected route and camera rules together before starting. The C camera shortcut depends on the views allowed by the room; a room that fixes one view may not let you switch to another.

Join a friend's room

Ask the host for the current room code. Open Multiplayer and use the join-code field, or select the room if it appears in the public room browser. Copy the code carefully and remove spaces accidentally added at either end.

If the room has closed or the host has created a replacement, ask for the new code. Repeatedly submitting an old code will not reconnect you to a different lobby.

Experimental mode

The home menu also offers an experimental multiplayer mode with items. The default keyboard inputs for an item are E or Enter. The gamepad menu lists B and RB. Learn the room's rules before treating an item race like an ordinary solo time trial.

If a room will not connect

• Confirm both players can open the original game's home menu.
• Check the host is still in the room and you have its current code.
• Complete any account prompt on dirtbound.fr, then try joining again.
• Refresh once if your tab is stale. Avoid refreshing in the middle of a run.
• Try a normal browser window if an extension or private mode is interfering with sign-in.

Keep account details on the original site

Dirtbound.app never asks for your Google password, game login or room credentials. Sign-in happens on dirtbound.fr and its Google account flow. Keep private room invitations within the group you want to play with.
