Dirtbound not loading? Game help

The game window does not open

Click Play Dirtbound once. If the browser blocks the window, use its popup indicator near the address bar to allow popups for dirtbound.app, then click Play again.

You can also open the original game in a new tab. On a phone, the browser may use a tab instead of a separate window. This is normal browser behavior.

The game opens to a blank screen

1. Give the original game a moment to load its 3D assets.
2. Reload the game window once and check that your connection is working.
3. Use an up-to-date browser with WebGL and hardware acceleration enabled.
4. If an extension blocks the game's files, try a clean normal browser window.
5. Close other graphics-heavy tabs and try again.

If dirtbound.fr itself is unavailable, this launcher cannot restore the game's server. Try again later or use the feedback option in the original game when it becomes accessible.

Keyboard controls do not respond

Click the road or game window first so it has focus. Check that the game is not paused and that a menu or text field is not capturing your keypresses. Use the keyboard test to check this page receives the expected keys.

If inputs work here but differ in the game, open the game's Settings and inspect the saved bindings. The original defaults are WASD or arrow keys for driving, Space for the handbrake, C for the camera and Escape or P for pause.

The game runs slowly

Open Settings and choose the Low graphics preset. The game's menu describes this preset as reducing scenery, shadows, smoke and resolution to favor responsiveness. Standard and Ultra add more visual detail.

Close background games, video calls and unused tabs. If your laptop is in a power-saving mode, plug it in and use its normal performance settings. Lower visual detail is a useful first step before changing several browser settings at once.

A controller is not detected

Connect the controller before opening the game, then press one of its buttons after the page loads. Check that your operating system sees the pad and that another application is not taking its inputs. See the gamepad reference for the published button layout.

My car, keys or progress changed

The original game stores player preferences in your browser. A different browser profile, device or private window can use a different set of preferences. Clearing site data can remove local settings. Before clearing anything, check you are using the same profile and account as before.
